Last Minute Gift Ideas

Two

Last Minute

Gift Suggestions

No, it isn’t two gift certificates for Tarot readings.  If you haven’t thought of that by now, I give up.

Actually, both suggestions are books.  I’ve said many times about each of them, “If I were wealthy this week, I’d give a copy of this book to everyone I know.  Then I’d put copies in every library, shelter (of every kind), school and jail in the country!”

What are they?

The first is Invisible Heroes: Survivors of Trauma and How They Heal by Belleruth Naparstek.  It’s a brilliant, effective and compassionate guided to helping with the healing of physical, emotional and spiritual trauma, including PTSD.  You can read more about it by clicking on Belleruth’s name.

The second is Anticancer: A New Way of Life by David Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhD.   It’s a very solid guide to preventing and/or fighting off cancer by a young Doc who is himself in remission from brain cancer.  Leading edge and intelligent, the book provides a holistic and even spiritual view of health, illness and recovery.  And lots of specific things to do with GOOD reasons why.

So, happy holidays!

Brightest blessings, hope and healing!

Pushcart Prize Nomination

Honor by

Nomination

Hi All,

I’ve just learned that the interview I did with remarkable author Sheri S. Tepper for the online magazine STRANGE HORIZONS has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize – it’s the “Best of the Small Presses” award.

I’m really honored.  I attribute the nomination to Sheri S. Tepper’s fiery and sometimes outrageous brilliance (her books are amazing!).  And I really must give credit to my wife Peggy’s fine (and patient) editing.

If you haven’t read the article, you can get to it by clicking on Sheri’s name in the first paragraph.

Bright blessings!

Arthur, Merlin & Camelot Reading List

November 19, 2008

Some Favorite Arthurs,

Merlins and Camelots

Two dear friends (thank you Donna and Judy) have suggested I post some of my favorite sources for stories and studies of Arthur, Merlin and all things Camelotish.  (Aw, there ’e goes, makin’ up the words again.  Thinks ’e’s a wossname, a Bard or summing! Gaw!)

As I was saying.

I’ve put together this here list.  I’ve divided it up into four arbitrary (and certainly justifiably questionable) categories:  Standard Tellings, Favorite Retellings/Newer Sources, Shamanic & Spiritual Teachings, and Historicals.  Of course, a number of the books would go nicely in more than one category.  I’m too lazy to retype the names, so you’ll have to work all that out for yourself.

The books in each section are more or less in the order of my own personal preferences and/or the order in which I encountered them. I’m sure I’ll be mortified when I remember some I’ve forgotten.

I hope this list is useful to you (Donna and Judy, anyway).  If you have any suggestions to recommend PLEASE post them!

Bright blessings and joyful reading!
