Tarot Card ~ October 31

Queen of Spears

Dindrane

Fortune Cookie:  What is your unique personal sacred quest?  How can you recommit to it, know it more fully, and take a concrete step toward it today? How can you open to that in you which is compassionate, kind, healing, artistic, gentle, honorable, mystical – and let those qualities become the pillars of your strength?

What a great card for Samhain (as my Pagan, Druid and Wiccan friends would call it), or Hallowe’en as most of the other locals think of it!

Why? Well, as various sources inform us, many scholars believe that this is the beginning of the Celtic year. [So Happy New Year!]

Beyond that, the Gaels believed that the border between this world and the mystical, magical, potent otherworld became thin on Samhain, so please invest some time and energy to work with that reality at some point during today/tonight.

And because some animals and plants were dying, it was believed, it allowed the dead to reach back through the veil that separated them from the living. So please take a moment to send love and light to those dear ones [of all species] who have departed.

Aside from all that, this is such a valuable card for our world at this time, and so congruent with what I’m seeing as a big need for so many clients. I’m grateful to have it come ’round again.

Some readers find the Queen of Spears to be a dark, kind, friendly and honorable woman, or any person whose energy reflects those qualities.

No.  No.  No!!!!

Others see her as a person of deep spiritual strength, one who encourages the higher aspirations of others.  I like that.  Still others find her to be the archetypal shepherdess,  or one known for mysticism and visionary experiences

Okay.  I can work with that.

I perceive the Queen of Spears to be the card of the feminine sacred questAlthough most people don’t know it or remember it – even the ones who have read Arthurian legends since childhood – there was one lone woman who was among those who quested for the Holy Grail.

She was Dindrane, Percivale’s sister.  A princess and an anchoress − in Christianity, a woman who chooses to withdraw from the world to live a solitary life of prayer − she was a most helpful director, motivator and advisor to the only three knights who did in fact ultimately achieve the Grail.

In our culture, as in most cultures over the past 5,000 years, it is generally the guys who go off questing, pursuing the sacred, etc., etc., etc. blah, blah, blah.  Or at least it’s the fellas whose stories get told.  Time for that to change, and also time for us  penile Americans to aspire to, embrace and foster the divine feminine.

So today, and throughout the remaining autumn season at the very least:

Ladies: each of you, what is your unique personal sacred quest?  How can you recommit to it, know it more fully, and take a concrete step toward it today?

Gentlemen [and I use the word loosely]: how can you open to that in you which is congruent with the energy of the Divine Feminine — compassionate, kind, healing, artistic, gentle, honorable, mystical – and let those qualities become the pillars of your strength?

Bright blessings and the touch of the beautifully and deeply sacred!

And a Blessed Samhain to all!

Quote for the Day:  The fey wonders of the world only exist while there are those with the sight to see them. ~ Charles de Lint

Today’s Weather: A sphinx. Mephistoes. Jewels and wonders.

On This Date: 1940World War II: The Battle of Britain ends – the United Kingdom prevents a German invasion.

In celebration!

Dear Circle,

It has been an exciting few months which I want to share a bit with you as well as update you on topics of interest to many of you. I just returned from the U.S. premiere of the feature documentary film, Jane’s Journey, at the Hampton International Film Festival. It is a beautiful, spiritually moving and uplifting film about the life and work of Jane Goodall. Jane’s work as a peacemaker is an inspiration to us all and many of you may be interested in the work of the Jane Goodall Institute and Roots and Shoots. I was honored to have an in depth personal meeting with Jane at the film festival and consider that meeting one of the highlights of my life. I encourage all of you to see this inspirational film when it comes to your community.

Next year,I will be teaching/working on a number of international peace projects in Israel and Palestinian territories as well as a number of international conflict resolution conferences. Tarot Card ~ October 30

October 30, 2010

The Hanged Man

Castle Perilous

Fortune Cookie: Stay much more aware ~ especially intuitively ~ than normal.  Know that positive energy and opportunities are near and can benefit you.  Reach out and take hold of them, one by one, to get where you intend.

We last saw this fellow almost exactly three months ago. Let’s see if we learned anything ‘t all from the good advice he brought last time. Maybe?

Here we go:  [Gonzo Tarot reader slowly and carefully sidles to far end of table, humming “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away” or some other pleasant but innocuous tune.]

[As Sir Terry Pratchett put it in his book, The Light Fantastic, “He moved in a way that suggested he was attempting the world speed record for the nonchalant walk.”]

This is one of those cards whose visual depiction can set clients whimpering and collapsing into themselves in a repetitive rocking fugue the moment it’s seen.  Pretty amazing, really. I suppose I can understand that. The name alone is enough to cause mewling in all of the hardiest guys I’ve read for − both of ’em.

Some decks picture a fellow hanging by a rope upside down by one leg from a tree, possibly with his head about to take a deep dunk in a fast flowing river.

Even my deck, Legend by Anna-Marie Ferguson pictures a passle-o-knights left hanging in a grove, one leg and both arms tied behind their backs to show the world that they were rendered utterly powerless and had, one by one, failed in their quests.

So I get why some readers interpret the card as indicating restriction, sacrifice or − at best − feeling drained.  Sort of an  I need Prozac and B12 kinda energy, ya see.

As the regular blog crew expects by now, I see the card differently.  When it turns up for a client, whatever area of his or her life we’re examining, I usually say something like,

“Okay.  Right away now.  Keep breathing.  Nice deep breaths.  Good!  Not too much.  Don’t hyperventilate.  Have a little brandy or a shot o’ Jack Black, maybe a little Cuervo action. Try some flower essences.  Take a hit of this.  Good.  Hey!  Give it back!

“Now.  There are several levels of meaning to this card.

“First, what the card is saying to you is, ‘If you’ve been feeling stuck in place or like you’re so deep in a rut you can’t see over the edge… Guess what?  Good news! You really have been.  You aren’t just a whining, puling little git.  And knowing that should actually make you feel better, Spunky!

“‘Second, it’s time for you to move up and out of that stuck space.  And very soon, if not immediately!’”

And this is How.

So pay attention.

The Hanged Man asks that you be extra vigilant in keeping your intuitive antenna up for strong, wise, functional, interested and caring energy that can and will help pull you out of your rut.

The help may come in small chunks, like a better-paying job that can move you forward − as opposed to winning the Mega Millions jackpot. [Sorry!  Remember, I’m just the messenger here.] But the help will be there, maybe even is already here, and it will be there in the ways that can really, truly benefit you.

Your mission then is to stay tuned in, be aware, notice the positive energy or helpful opportunity, reach out for it and grab onto it when it shows up, and use it to move you along to where you really want to be.

As if that weren’t enough, I find that there is an additional directive from the Hanged Man.

The card basically says that, in those moments when the new, positive, helpful energy and opportunities aren’t readily apparent – and those moments happen to all of us − your mission is to refuse to get sucked into the old It sucks to be me! I’m hopeless!  I’m helpless! whirlpool.

Rather, use the time for deep prayer, healing meditation, shamanic journeying, etc.

Go deep within for wisdom and direction; embrace your own spirituality, guidance, hope and healing.

Use the “fallow time” in practices that will help you become more fully connected to your truer, deeper, self and to the channels of spiritual power and assistance around you.

So:

Stay aware.

Stay much more aware than normal, in fact, especially intuitively

Know that positive energy and opportunities are there and will benefit you.  Reach out and take hold of them, one by one, to get you where you intend.

If nothin’s shakin’, use the time for prayer, meditation, magical and deep wisdom studies and spiritual practice to increase those elements that are of and for your highest and best.

Bright blessings and beautiful positive flow upward, out to freedom!

On this Date: 1945Jackie Robinson of the Kansas City Monarchs signs a contract for the Brooklyn Dodgers to break the baseball color barrier.

Tarot Card ~ October 29

October 29, 2010

Four of Swords

Isolt of the White Hands

Fortune Cookie: Carve out some time to just be at peace, take it easy, do what’s comfortable and healing; just let the river flow on by.

A lovely and healing card, and one we haven’t seen since the first day of June.  Dunno about its advice, though, at the moment.  There’s an awful lot going on. Although… in a world that seems a bit overwrought, in a lotta directions, maybe it does make sense.

Now, as I normally ask at the top of the post for this card:

Which one of y’all isn’t getting enough rest, enough recuperation, enough time far from the madding crowd?

[Headline: Tarot Guy Blown Out Window by Draft as Readers All Raise Hands.]

Look into this card and its advice, then, will ya?  But don’t just make it another item on an overly long to-do list.  Seek a way to make DIFFERENT choices.

The Four of Swords, then,  is a card of respite and recovery.  It speaks of moving from a stressful environment to a place of safety, calm and comfort. [Regular readers know I prefer under the bed if not under the floorboards.  Or maybe Canada.]

Some readers find that this card speaks of solitude or hermit’s repose.  Others see it as predicting renewal.

Anna-Marie Ferguson, creator of the Legend deck, finds such things as healing, gentle soul searching, convalescing and regaining strength and direction in this card.  [And I’ve been finding a lot of clients the past month or so are expressing a feeling of lack of direction.  So Looky Here you guys!]

To me, the Four of Swords says:

“Now!  Today! [Especially because it’s a Friday!] Make a mini-retreat!  Give yourself time and space to rest, recharge, recuperate.  As Anna-Marie Ferguson also says, this card recommends you leave a stressful, chaotic situation in order to clear the mind and reevaluate plans ~  so you can refine your sense of where you actually want to go!

Please be sure to carve out at least half an hour, if not most of the day, to just be at peace, take it easy, do what’s comfortable and healing as you let the river (and pretty much everything else) flow by.

Bright blessings, peace, calm and healing!

Quote for the Day:   Be here now.  ~ Ram Dass

                             [Be somewhere else later.] ~NS

Today’s Weather:  Mopey poets, digging for inspiration.  Look up, dudes!

On This Date: 1886 – The first ticker-tape parade takes place in New York City when office workers spontaneously throw ticker tape into the streets as the Statue of Liberty is dedicated.

The Hermit

Lancelot in Exile

Fortune Cookie: Find the pure and beautiful light within you, acknowledge it, engage it, and begin bringing it out as a gift to and a healing for the world.

We last saw this card at the end of August.

As I’ve said before whenever this card came up:

This would be a good time to remember that

~ each Tarot card has many facets to its meaning and

~ it can be important to tease out as many of the meanings as you can for yourself

~ including meanings that seems to contradict themselves

~ to get a sense of what you might need to be aware of on any given day

Is that sufficiently unclear?

Okay, let’s try it from another perspective.  As I have also said before:

There are lots of different Yous going on during even a single morning, let alone a whole day, a whole career, etc.

Although you perceive yourself to be pretty much the same from morning till night, and day in and day out,

~ You’re likely a very different person with the paper boy who leaves your paper perfectly where you want it [you remember what a newspaper is, don’t you?]

~ than you are with the cats who keep lovingly flopping on the movie reviews as you try to read them.

~ And you’re a different person with them than you are with the partner who always manages to be just a few minutes later moving his/her car out of the way so you can head for work than you would like.

~ And you’re different with her/him than you are with that whiney but important client who demands that you see her half an hour earlier than anybody else ever does (and then shows up 45 minutes late).

~ or the lovely but dotty neighbor who always drives a bit over the edge of your lawn but gives you potted plants and flowers at least once a quarter in apology

~ and the other neighbor who is wonderful but keeps throwing chum out for the zombies, who grab it and eat it on (and throw leftovers all around) your porch.  Yum!

See?  LOTS of different Yous.

And that’s not even on a day fraught with emotional charge, elevated hopes, escalated fears, fat, sugar and alcohol.  Oh, wait.  Samhain is… later.

So what does that have to do with The Hermit?

Wait.

Wait.

Wait.

It’ll come to me.

Wait.

Oh.  Yeah.

So…

As I’ve said before, you’d assume a card with a name like The Hermit would be pretty self-evident in its meaning, right?

Well, sort of.  For once.   In this case, anyway.  I mean, if you’ve been aching for some alone time away from the madding crowd to recuperate, get grounded and centered, this is definitely your card of permission in that regard.  [So, yeah, you can tell your boss it was all Neal’s fault you didn’t show for mandatory fun with your coworkers at the company punkin fest, Jeopardy competition and witch hunt today.]  But be sure to create and take advantage of favorable energies if you let yourself have the time and space this way today.  [Don’t just hide under the bed.  Use the day of freedom wonderfully! It will be valuable and helpful.]

But…

But, but, but, but, but!!!  The more specific applicability of The Hermit on any given day is that, when this card shows up in a reading, I’m most likely to say to a client,

Ah.  Yes.  Hermit.

It’s time to go really deep within yourself and do some much needed soul-searching.

The intent will be to find the pure and beautiful light within you, acknowledge it, engage it, and begin bringing it out as a gift to and a healing for the world.

Please see whether you don’t really resonate to that aspect of the card today.  In fact, go out of your way to try to resonate with it.  It’ll help you get through the day.  And your vibe will probably help everyone else in the process.

By the way, this card can also indicate a meeting with a wise person So don’t let that slip by if you perceive a likely opportunity.  [Maybe you know, like, a pretty good, like, Tarot reader or somethin’?  Or you could buy a new Magic Eight Ball?]

Find your light.  Shine it in the world.

Bright BRIGHT Blessings!

Quote for the Day:   If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can totally transform one million realities. ~  Maya Angelou

Today’s Weather: Rickenbangle jangles all over the sunny meads.  Mind the blackadder hyssop.

On This Date: 1885 – First porcelain toilet is built.

A useful story:

In the late 1990s, environmental activist Julia Butterfly Hill spent two years living in a redwood tree she named “Luna.” Her goal was to save it from being cut down by a logging company.

She succeeded both literally and mythically. Luna was spared from death, as was a surrounding three-acre swath of trees. Hill became an inspiring symbol of artful, compassionate protest.

Later she told Benjamin Tong in the DVD The Taoist and the Activist:

“So often activism is based on what we are against, what we don’t like, what we don’t want. And yet we manifest what we focus on. And so we are manifesting yet ever more of what we don’t want, what we don’t like, what we want to change.

“So for me, activism is about a spiritual practice as a way of life. And I realized I didn’t climb the tree because I was angry at the corporations and the government; I climbed the tree because when I fell in love with the redwoods, I fell in love with the world. So it is my feeling of ‘connection’ that drives me, instead of my anger and feelings of being disconnected.”

Page of Spears

The Hare

Fortune Cookie: Love and honor your inner mad artist.  Embrace and empower him or her today.  And begin that wonderful new… WHATEVER!

As I know I’ve said before, this little guy’s energy is ALWAYS welcome around here, although the last time we saw him was mid August.

Some readers find this card signals a dark young man (person?), an envoy or postman, and therefore, NEWS!  So keep an eye out for any and all of those, if it feels right.

Others would see him as representing a strange message or a desire to learn new things or expand current knowledge.

Anna-Marie Ferguson, creator of the Legend deck, finds the Page of Spears to betoken stimulating communications [like you wish this was], arrival of good things, and a trustworthy, enthusiastic assistant, among other possibilities.  [I’ll take a dozen, God, please.  And a side each of marketing director and web master. To go.]

As a totem animal, Hare betokens joyfulness, enthusiasm, wonderful loopy abandon (Mad as a March Hare) and creativity, creation or procreation.  So this card asks that you release your inner wildandcrazyjoyfulartist, especially today.

Yep!  Somethin’ like that!

Let yourself connect or reconnect with those elements of yourself and your life that encourage freedom, playfulness, creativity and JOY!

And as far as the procreation part is concerned, if you’ve been thinking about making a baby − or opening a new business or giving birth to a major new project or direction in life − Do It!  Do It!  Begin today!

Love and honor your inner mad artist.  Embrace and empower him or her today.  And begin that wonderful new… WHATEVER!

Bright, joyful, creative blessings!

Quote for the Day: To become truly immortal, a work of art must escape all human limits: logic and common sense will only interfere. But once these barriers are broken, it will enter the realms of childhood visions and dreams.  ~ Giorgio de Chirico

Today’s Weather: Winkedy-tinkedy, with intermittent spasms and drivel. Call in well today.

On This Date: 1782Niccolò Paganini, Italian violinist and composer is born.  [Very Page of Spears!]

And: 1914Dylan Thomas, Welsh poet is born.  [VERY Page of Spears!]

And: 1939John Cleese, British actor and writer is born.  [SUPER PoS!]

Ten of Shields

Camelot

Fortune Cookie:  Look for the right GROUP energy to become part of so you will receive the right kind of support as you move onward and upward in your life.

Very interesting card.  Always a very interesting card − at least when I have seen it.   It last showed up for us in early August.

For those of you who are regulars to the Blog, you know I’m about to say something like

Tens in any Tarot deck betoken the end of one cycle and the beginning of another, or even the end of one way of life and the beginning of another.  So, if I were reading for you today and this card came up, I’d ask:

How do the things you have been experiencing – and more importantly, how do the things you have begun to long for in life just now – represent a strong message to you that you must allow yourself to acknowledge the end of a cycle and the powerful potential for you to move into something wonderful and new, even miraculous?

How can you keep that in front of you, and not just for today?

How can you let today be part of something new that you BEGIN TODAY but may continue to pursue for some time to come?

Some readers see the Ten of Shields as gain, riches, or having to do with family abode.  Okey-dokey.  We likes riches an’ gains, do!

Anna-Marie Ferguson, creator of the Legend deck, indicates this card is about  affluence, riches, inheritance, and possibly clan gatherings.  As my grandmother often used to say about clan gatherings, “I’m always glad to see you all come.  And I’m even happier to see you all go!”  I can only imagine.

I see the Ten of Shields as saying:

Time for a change.

Possibly time for a BIG change.

In pursuing that change, don’t look for the right person to help bring it about.

Look for the right groups and circles and organizations – possibly new ones to you – to become part of.

Be very careful to evaluate the GROUP energy or the GROUP dynamics of where you are and where you need to be.

If you were interviewing for a new job (or exploring a new spiritual circle, or new club), it wouldn’t be anywhere NEAR enough to evaluate whether it felt like your prospective new boss (or leader, or pastor, or teacher, whatever) would be good to work with.

You’d really want to explore and be sure that the energy of the greater team, group, circle or organization felt positive, clean, imbued with integrity, excitement, spirit – whatever you need a boost of right now.

So:

Be open to the possibility that some element of your life is grinding its way to an end.

Understand that it may simply be TIME for that to happen – no judgment or negative feeling attached to that reality.  Just a necessity in your evolution.

Then look for the right GROUP energy to become part of to so that it will be supportive of you as you move onward and upward in your life.

Bright blessings and REALLY GOOD group connections!

Today’s Weather:  Theophilating grandiloquent gomermeisters. Wash in cheap stout or biodegradable… stuff.

On This Date: 1881 – The Gunfight at the O.K. Corral takes place at Tombstone, Arizona. [Burt Lancaster & Kirk Douglas tame the Olde West.  Or was it Kurt Russel & Val Kilmer?  Or was it Costner? No, wait.  That was Robin Hood.  Uhh…]

The Judgement

Avalon

Fortune Cookie: Know what you want. Don’t be crazy, necessarily, but be willing to try something unusual or out of character to get it.  Reach out for your destiny.

We last saw this card Only twelve days ago. And it’s really a pretty useful card for a Monday; it’s a fine card for taking a look at how we might want to shake things up a bit in some positive ways.  And it’s always a good card to work with and one we would do well to allow to guide us. I certainly need to pay more attention to it! [Maybe I will anyway?]

So.  Then.   Several layers of interpretations here, and all worth a looksee.

If there’s any inkling in your mind that you might be being

just a tad

judgemental,

in any way, shape or form it’s tremendously important that you STOP THAT RIGHT NOW ~ don’t be judgemental of anyone else.  And especially don’t be judgemental toward yourself. It’s not useful or even valid to be that way.  Today, and for a while to come, anyway.

That doesn’t mean you should let yourself – or anyone else − run hog wild, going off half-cocked and half baked in every goofy direction that occurs. That’s my niche and I don’t need any more competition.

Nor should you beat yourself up if you really want to just get quiet and do what it takes to stay grounded – or want to just hide and say, “To hell with ALL these freakin’ Bozos!” for today.  Oh. Wait.  That would be kinda judgemental.  So you can do it (hide away)… Just don’t say it.

It does mean

~ don’t repress your own tendency to wish for what you really wish for

~ don’t berate yourself for wanting to be able to upgrade  WELL beyond what  ordinary reality might provide this week in

some area of your life, but

~ stay grounded for the moment regarding what you actually grab

or grab for

And send kind energy and blessings of Light to those who do get sucked into any craziness that’s around at the moment.

Also [and I’m finding this one to be unusually important with my clients lately],

be sure you are pursuing what really is for the highest and best of all

Don’t just do what you’ve always been told you should do in order to be successful, popular, spiritual, thinner, blahdee, blahdee, blahblahblah…

?

That’s a bit better, then.

Anyway.

Different decks portray ~ and different readers interpret ~ The Judgement in exceptionally different ways.  Some say it indicates a change of position, a renewal or reawakening, an ultimate outcome.  Good stuff at any time of  year.

Anna-Marie Ferguson, creator of the Legend deck, finds it portends passing through a gateway to a new existence, an understanding of how one’s actions influence others, good health or a positive legal outcome.

Me? [Thought you’d never ask.]  I tend to see this card as requiring some action.

When this card appears, I’m likely to say:

Look.  Really.  There are powerful, helpful people who would be happy to work with you, work on your behalf, who might actually be out there looking for you right now.  But they can’t find you where you usually are.

There are wonderful, transformational experiences waiting for you.  But they can’t happen where you are, in the rhythm of your life as you currently live it.

You’ve got to

go new places,

meet new people,

do new things!

And push yourself a bit to keep doing that for the foreseeable future.

So, while staying grounded and aware of what your wishes are − or could be if you really owned what you wish for − entice yourself out of your rut. Shop at different stores, from grocers to clothiers to where you buy your lottery tickets or get your dry cleaning done. Go to different movies at different theaters.  Eat at different restaurants.  Write at different coffee bars.  [Write AT ALL for a change!]

Don’t let yourself stagnate where you are and have been

Perhaps the most important aspect of this card is that it indicates your destiny is trying to reach out to you and for you.  Will you be there?   If you will, bear in mind the insight of the card as it reminds us to understand the impact of our actions upon others.

Know what you want.  Don’t be crazy, but be willing to try something unusual or out of character to get it.  Reach out for your destiny.

Bright blessings — without even the least little hint of  judgemental! [I mean it!]

Quote for the Day:  Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods. ~ Albert Einstein

Today’s Weather:  Hic Haec Hoc. Hulk.  Beware the dative locative.

On This Date: 1938 – The Archbishop of Dubuque, Francis J. L. Beckman, denounces swing music as “a degenerated musical system… turned loose to gnaw away at the moral fiber of young people,” warning that it leads down a “primrose path to hell.”  [Twit.]

The Priestess

Nimue

Fortune Cookie:  Know your magic. (Know you’re magic!Own your magic.  (Own you’re magic!Do what’s necessary for you to be and feel inspired.  Then use your magic consciously to benefit yourself and others.

Hmmmmm… The Priestess last appeared for us in early September. As I see it, it’s a wonderful magic-of-any-season-kinda-card. As perfect for mid autumn as it was for the almost end of summer, then, yes? So give ye a goode and attent ear here.  Or there.  Or wherever.

In general, The Priestess is seen as a keeper of secrets, of ancient or arcane wisdom.

She is also known as a wielder of strong intuitive powers.  So, this would be a good time to let your intuition guide you − try not to get in its way!  And seek some ways to more fully engage your intuition in your everyday existence.

[So I suppose this would be a good day to get a reading.  Or to schedule one, anyhow!] [This commercial message sloppily thrown at you by… me.]

Some readers would say mystical studies may also appeal to you at this time, and you could take up the study of subjects such as astrology, tarot, dreamwork  or other esoteric knowledge. Some would even say that incredible gifts await you; all you have to do is acknowledge that within lies all knowledge. There is some good sense to this last bit, ALWAYS!

Or, it being a Sunday, this would be a superb day to go to the Art Museum and just hang out among the unsurpassably beautiful power objects from other times, places and dimensions.  Basking in their amazing vibrations can be spiritually empowering, and just sitting with them can alter [and altar] your state of consciousness as profoundly as purposeful meditation.  Or go in with your favorite MP3 meditation/music, and sit by something that sets your soul on fire. Try it.  Really. You’ll be amazed and enlightened and want to do it on a regular basis.

Anna-Marie Ferguson, creator of the Legend deck, sees The Priestess as indicating inspiration and a powerful connection with the collective unconscious or world soul.  Also, astute psychic ability.  A good time for it, autumn brings periods where the realms of magic open for us!  There can also be elements of a need for solitude today, so honor that if you feel it and if you can.

Finally, the Priestess is recognized as one who can walk fully and successfully in two worlds – that of ordinary reality and its people, and that the of the higher realms and the Fay.  [Time to read old books about Findhorn again, maybe? (http://www.findhorn.org/onlinecommunity/monthlythemes)  Or get to know Perelandra (http://www.perelandra-ltd.com/)?]

When this card turns up for a client, I usually offer something like,

The Priestess is an important role model.  She owns her magic and uses it for her benefit and for the good of those she loves.

So, one of the critical questions that I often finding myself working through with clients is, “What IS your magic?”  You can’t own it if you haven’t even identified it and been willing to stake a claim to it.

And don’t try to weenie out of the discussion by assuming I’m ONLY talking about Dumbledore-caliber ceremonial high magic.

So what IS your magic

Is it a gift for healing from your hands or in your soothing voice?

Is it a long-developed ability to coax amazing music from even the most beat-up old piano (or guitar, or flute, or djembe)?

Is it a capacity to write clearly and with passion about things that would normally be a complete yawn?

Is it the knack to lighten the mood of a tense meeting with a smile and an off-the-wall analogy?

Is it a love for numbers that helps a not-for-profit manage its razor thin margin?

Is it a talent for teaching and inspiring?

Is it an ability to grow moss in the desert or sell refrigerators to an Inuit?

What is your magic?  It’s what you love to do, and what lifts people around you when you do it, or what allows them some hope and healing because you do it − even if you’re stuffed away in a cubbyhole somewhere.

Know your magic.

(Know you’re magic!)

Own your magic.

(Own you’re magic!)

Do what’s necessary for you to be and feel inspired.  Then use your magic consciously to benefit yourself and others.

Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bright blessings, light and magic!
